Mark Rushton and Jon Harnish is an album of ambient electronica music infused with various field recordings.

It was sampled and recorded at Weather Excuse Studio, the Matyk Building, and East Highlands Studio in Cedar Rapids and also at The Ark near Toddville, Iowa. Tracks were assembled at East Highlands Studio and the project was completed at The Bunker in Iowa City.

Mark Rushton: “Jon and I had been playing music together at the Matyk Building in 2005 for 8 or 9 months and we really hit it off. He lived a couple houses down the street and one night I stopped by and recorded off a number of interesting loops from a program on his computer. We were both looking for interesting sounds to bank, so it was a collaborative effort. I took the loops home, did significant editing and changing of the original material, and turned it into this album. Some of the tracks also feature Jon playing at the Matyk, which I added into the mix. The only track Jon didn’t play on was “New Bohemia”, which was something I had created in 2004 before I had met him, but most of the field recordings in that track were recorded just a block or two away from his house.”
