This Disquiet Junto project was done as a celebration of the efforts of the Three Legs Duck netlabel, and to support its employment of licenses that allow for derivative works.

This track is comprised of three pieces of music, all originally released on Three Legs Duck: "Unloop Hullaballoo" off The Fleet’s Lit Up by Alex Charles and Richard Sanderson, "Etude" off Emosphere by !Kung, and "04:54AM" off Four AM at Dusk Jérôme Poirier.

For "Gestures" I took edits averaging about 20 seconds in length from each of the three pieces of music and loaded them into the Samplr app for iPad. Since Samplr allows for 6 samples in each project workspace, I loaded each edit twice so I could work it using different options.

Initially, I thought I could create something based on the mix generated by me in Samplr but the end result wasn't what I wanted, so I ended up recording each processed edit and loading that into my DAW for mixing and some further processing.

I wanted something rhythmic, which I haven't done much of lately. This is considerably rhythmic.

"Gestures" really doesn't sound like anything in my past recorded output. It's probably due the Samplr app, which I've only been using a couple of weeks. Although I have made other pieces with Samplr that I've layered and mixed in my DAW, and they don't sound too radically different from other recent output, so I don't know what's going on. I don't know if I can put it on the source material either. I have made a conscious decision recently to consider going more rhythmic, so maybe that's just me artistically stretching out.
