I've been involved with Bound Off, a literary review/podcast of short stories read aloud - usually by the authors. We've produced 79 monthly episodes in a row at www.boundoff.com - I do all the audio mixing and provide the background music. While we've never had a "theme song" or jingle, I try to use music that works as "background music" while the host introduces the program and stories, and provides information about the authors.
This junto was a real challenge. That jingle for The Radius is pretty far out there. What do I do? Well, I figured I'd do the same thing as I do at Boundoff. I'd create something that a host or presenter can talk over. But I had to create it out of that peaked-out, fuzzy noise. I got to work carving out a few sounds, drenching them in effects, trying out different parts of the audio editing programs I use. Multi-track it. Mix it. Find something that sounds good. Render...
And here it is: Industance.
It's a bed of processed noise for a host to talk over.
